Mário Mata
nasceu em 2 de Setembro de 1960, em Luanda.
Em Agosto de 1974 vem para Portugal continental fixando-se em Portimão e estabelendo residência em várias localidades algarvias.
A primeira aparição fora do circuito dos bares ocorreu em Dezembro de 1980 no programa "Febre de Sábado de Manhã", realizado no Cinema Nimas, com o tema "Não Há Nada P'ra Ninguém". Em 1981 estabelece-se definitivamente em Lisboa.
"Não Há Nada P’ra Ninguém" é lançado em single e torna-se um dos maiores sucessos desse ano. É editado um álbum com o mesmo nome.
Em 1982 é editado o álbum "Não Mata Mas Mói" e o single "É Pr'a Desgraça". No ano seguinte é lançado "Que Grande Seca", um novo single.
É editado o LP "Deixa-os Poisar". Em 1986 lança os singles "Nunca Mais É Sábado" e "O Puto", com o convidado especial Jorge Palma ao piano.
Participa no Festival RTP da Canção de 1987 com "É do Stress" que fica em 5º lugar.
Em 1994 lançou o CD "Somos Portugueses" que teve algum sucesso popular.
Depois de uma longa pausa para concertos e digressões regressou ao estúdio em Julho de 2004 para gravar o álbum "Dupla Face", disco inclui uma nova versão de "Não Há Nada P’ra Ninguém" e outros temas como "Eu Vou À Bruxa", "Miúda Triste", "Fiquei Tão Bem" ou "Dupla Face".
Em 2006 foi um dos nomes presentes no concerto comemorativo do popular programa "Febre de Sábado de Manhã".
